James Bond’s New Timepiece: Omega Seamaster 300M “Commander’s Watch”

Since 1995, when Pierce Brosnan wore a Seamaster in Goldeneye, Omega has been the watch brand of choice for James Bond. After launching a special edition for the most recent Bond film, Spectre, two years ago, Omega has now given the world’s most famous secret agent a new wrist companion: the Omega Seamaster 300M “Commander’s Watch” Limited Edition.

Omega Seamaster 300M Commanders Watch Limited Edition, NATO strap

As serious James Bond fans are aware, before Agent 007 was a secret agent he was a commander of the British Royal Navy. The new watch is dedicated to his rank and therefore has been dubbed the “Commander’s Watch.”  Fittingly, it bears the colors of Great Britain and its navy: the white ceramic dial features blue, skeletonized hour and minute hands and a red second hand, which it enhanced with a stylized “007” logo. The number 7 in the date window is also colored red, while all other numbers are colored blue. Red and blue are also used as the colors in the rotating bezel. One can choose to wear the watch with the matching NATO strap or with a metal bracelet.

Omega Seamaster 300M Commanders Watch Limited Edition, steel bracelet

The steel case measures 41 mm and holds the Omega Caliber 2507, which powers the watch. This self-winding movement — with its specially designed rotor featuring the 007 logo and three gold stripes — can be viewed through the sapphire caseback. According to Omega, the three gold stripes are inspired by the Commander’s naval insignia.

Omega Calibre 2507, with special “007” rotor, is visible through the caseback.

Omega will produce (appropriately) 7,007 pieces of the Seamaster 300M “Commander’s Watch” in stainless steel, priced at $5,000. The company will also offer seven pieces in an 18K yellow gold case; it’s U.S. price hasn’t been announced yet, but it will be available for CHF 28,000 before VAT.

Until you see it in the flesh please don’t judge it. I’m an omega fan but wasn’t impressed with this watch until I saw it in the jewellers. It is stunning and just like another commentator bought it on the spot. Beautifully judged design and the NATO strap really suits it. I really believe it will be a future classic.

Wow. Love the dial and bezel. Uber sporty and a standout with that white dial and touch of red on the bezel.

  3. Lou Fraser

Very appealing timepiece however, the price point for the watch containing 2507 movement is tad high.

The other one Daniel Craig wore was way cooler. Too tame appeal for Bond.

It’s horrible, looks like an Invicta. Hate deck-chair straps, looks like Southend beach, accessorise with a knotted hankerchief… don’t mess with the Seamaster. Swatch, will you please leave an iconic brand alone…

Went to the Omega boutique in Old Bond St this morning to pick up a watch from service… saw this new watch and bought it on the spot. Not because it is a 007 but because it looks great with the NATO band for summer and has the stainless steel band as well…

This is the ugliest James Bond watch I have ever seen.
I will stick to my Seamaster 300M 50th anniversary mid-size.
    Thank you.

My opinion, just cannot compare to the Rolex Submariner. Rolex will always the Bond watch.

Nice article. Do you know when it will become available ?

Done deal...thx for the heads up...S

That might have been the Ambien version of me that entered for the Omega.

I should be asleep right now...maybe I sleep post and don't even know it until later...it's happened before...

What to do with $99000 in fake emeralds from the Shop I just ordered?

Ambien is an expensive way to sleep-shop...I don't recommend it.

Thanks for the heads up!

@ eltopo90125 I have never sleep shopped on Ambien thank God I would probably be in the poor house but I was sleep driving on it. Didn't know it until I got a summons to court for out running a state trooper in the middle of the night! Luckily the judge was understanding and dropped all the charges as long as I agreed to pay court costs. To this day I do not remember the indecent. Never took it again and notice the gas I was accusing people of siphoning out of my car stopped.

Gadgets

Miniature Homing Listening Device

Without Q branch James Bond would have surely been killed on only his second assignment. It's only using Q's attache case that saves Bonds life a number of times throughout From Russia With Love, and other Q-branch supplied gadgets which have saved his life many times throughout the films.

Assigned to produce gadgetry to assist 00 agents 'in the field', Q branch is headed by Q, or Quartermaster. From 1963 in From Russia With Love until 1999 in The World Is Not Enough, Major Boothroyd, played by Desmond Llewelyn, has starred as the famous Q. Die Another Day saw John Cleese take the role of Q, after being introduced in The World Is Not Enough as Q's assistant to replace him after his character retired from MI6 service. Sadly, Desmond Llewelyn passed away on 19th December 1999 in a road accident at the age of 85.

Featuring wild, wacky, bizarre and outrageous gadgets, Q branch has certainly produced a wide multitude of gadgets to assist any 00 agent. It has always been Q's intention that his creations be returned, intact. Consequently, Bond frequently makes quips to Q when most of his gadgets are destroyed or returned in battle worn condition.

As the James Bond films have progressed so has the technology of the gadgets. In From Russia With Love, Bond uses a pager and a phone inside his car. These so called gadgets might be scoffed at now, but at the time of the film these where state-of-the-art technological marvels. From the first digital watch ever seen appearing in Live and Let Die, to the mobile phone remote control for the BMW 750i, one thing is certain, even today's most advanced gadgetry will be obsolete some time in the future. §
